●The MAX3318ECUP+ from Maxim Integrated Products is a ±15KV ESD protected, 460Kbps RS232 compatible transceiver with AutoShutdown Plus in 20 pin TSSOP package. The IC"s transmitter is an inverting level translator converts CMOS logic levels to RS232 compatible voltage levels. It has a 460Kbps data rate with worst case loads of 3Kohm in parallel with 1000pF, providing compatibility with PC to PC communication software (such as LapLink™). Receiver convert ±3.7V to ±13.2V RS232 signal levels into CMOS logic output levels. The transceiver has a low-dropout transmitter output stage enabling RS232 compatible operation from a +2.25V to +3V supply with a dual charge pump and charge pump requires only four 0.1µF capacitors. Devices automatically enter a low-power shutdown mode when the RS232 cable is disconnected or transmitters of connected peripherals are inactive for more than 30sec. They turn on again when they sense a valid transition at any transmitter or receiver input.
