MAX236EWG+ - Maxim Integrated Function Overview

The MAX236EWG+ is a +5V powered multichannel RS232 driver/receiver in 24 pin WSOIC package. This device is intended for all EIA/TIA-232E and V.28/V.24 communications interfaces. It is particularly suitable for applications where ±12V is not available. The MAX236 has four sections such as dual charge pump DC to DC voltage converter, RS232 driver, RS232 receiver and receiver/transmitter enable control inputs. The integrated charge pump circuitry eliminates the need for bipolar ±12V supply and enables single supply operation from +5V supply. It is used in interface translation and multidrop RS232 network applications.
Supply voltage range from 4.5V to 5.5V
Operating temperature range from -40°C to 85°C
Four RS232 drivers and three RS232 receivers
Saves board space
5µW shutdown mode saves power for reduced power requirements
Data rate of 120Kbps
Transition slew rate is 5.1V/µs (CL = 50pF to 2500pF, RL = 3Kohm to 7Kohm)
VCC supply current of 7mA with no load
Shutdown supply current of 1µA at TA = 25°C
