MAX3471EUA+T - Maxim Integrated Function Overview

The MAX3471EUA+T is a RS485/RS422 half duplex differential transceiver in 8 pin µMAX package. It is intended for lithium battery powered RS485/RS422 applications. The MAX3471 has one transmitter and one receiver. The device draws only 1.6µA supply current from 3.6V supply with receiver enabled and driver disabled. Its wide 2.5V to 5.5V supply voltage provides operation over lifetime of lithium battery. It has true fail-safe operation that provides logic high receiver output when receiver inputs are open or shorted. The receiver output will be logic high if all transmitters on terminated bus are disabled (high impedance). Internal circuitry prevents battery back charging when driver outputs are enabled and pulled above VCC or below GND. It is typically used in remote meter reading, battery powered differential communications and level translators.
