MCP4161-103E/SN - Microchip Function Overview

The MCP4161-103E/SN is a 8-bit (256 wiper steps) non-volatile Digital Potentiometer programmed/reprogrammed through an SPI compatible interface. This device offers WiperLock™ technology which allows the user unlimited reprogramming and locking of the wiper setting. This is useful for equipment that requires factory trimming or recalibration. WiperLock technology allows application-specific calibration settings to be secured in the EEPROM.
8-bit 256 Resistors with taps to VSS and VDD
Automatic recall of potentiometer wiper settings
<10ppm Typical absolute (rheostat) low tempco
<10ppm Typical ratiometric (potentiometer) low tempco
100R Typical low wiper resistance
WiperLock™ technology to secure the EEPROM
1µA Maximum static current low-power operation
Zero to full-scale wiper operation
Non-volatile memory - automatic recall of saved wiper setting
Resistor network terminal disconnect feature via shutdown pin (SHDN)
Write protect feature - hardware write protect (WP) control pin
1.5V Typical brown-out reset protection
2.5µA Typical serial interface inactive current
Up to 12.5V high-voltage tolerant digital inputs
Supports split rail applications
Internal weak pull-up on all digital inputs
